The leopard cat is about the size of a domestic cat but longer in the leg. The leopard cat is essentially a forest animal, preying upon small mammals and birds. However, they also consume small ungulates, hares, insectivores, mustelids, pigs, lizards, snakes, birds, reptiles, insects, fish, crab and carrion. The diet may also include domestic poultry raided from neighboring human establishments. It is nocturnal and starts prowling from evening. It takes shelter in hollows of large trees. It is good climber and efficient swimmer.
Specimen was collected from Sundarban, Khulna. Leopard cat is categorized as Near Threatened (NT) in Bangladesh.
